Obesity Patients not getting weight loss advice according to CDC
Despite a national obesity epidemic in the US, and most other western countries, many doctors are not advising their obese patients to lose weight, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Only 40 percent of doctors told their obese patients to lose weight in 2000. This is a decrease (!) from 42.5 percent in 1994, said the CDC. About 30% of all U.S. adults are obese! Why this is important? Patients who were advised to lose weight were nearly three times more likely to drop the excess pounds than those who did not. A serious issue, don't you think so?
