Some people think that drinking water when dieting is important for getting rid of waste products. But drinking water actually helps in other ways.
The first way drinking water helps you lose weight is by lowering the concentration of salt in your body. A lower concentration makes it easier for your body to break down fat.
An even more interesting aspect of drinking water during a diet, and even if you are not dieting, is the thermal effect! If you drink (cold) water, or any other cold drink, your body will lose energy because it needs to heat up the water to body temperature. This effect is even stronger than some people think.
