15 week Power Training, 8% more power, more efficient muscles
In a study we received we found some interesting results which really surprised us. We already knew that power training is really the best way to improve jump performance, sprinting and explosive movements needed in most sports.
The subjects under investigation trained twice a week for 15 weeks performing various jumping exercises such as drop jumps, hurdle jumps, hopping and bouncing.
The results
- In the maximal jumping test, the take-off velocity increased from 2.56 m.s(-1) to 2.77. - An 8% increase in maximal jumping as a result of power training, characterized by decreased energy expenditure of 24%
An 8% increase is interesting, but what is also interesting is the 24% efficiency improvement which also affects aerobic capacity which may result in reduced oxygen demands during your favorite sport.
Time to give power training a chance, stay limy...
