want to eat less: use fewer colors in your food!

The more colors in your food the more you eat. The more colors on one single plate the more you eat. That is the result of a study from the University of Pennsylvania. One of the tests used in the research was the jellybean test. Adults who were given six colored flavors of jellybeans mixed together in the same bowl ate 70 percent more than when they were presented with separate bowls for each color.

Think about it. Would you rather eat a bowl of mixed pasta with all kind of colors, or would you rather look at a bowl of pasta, a few bowls of different vegetables and a bowl of meat.

The M&M test showed how this works when colors are mixed together. The more colors the more you eat! Moviegoers given M&Ms in 10 colors ate 43 percent more than those offered the same number of M&Ms in seven colors.

And then there’s size. Our movie going subjects were given the extra-large popcorn and ate up to 50 percent more than those with one size smaller. This was true no matter if the popcorn was stale.
