Diets rich in Soy Protein and Isoflavones: higher Testosterone, more agression
Researchers studied the effects of long-term (15 months) consumption of diets rich in soy isoflavones on spontaneous social behavior among adult male monkeys living in nine stable social groups.
The first group was fed Casein and lactalbumin (no isoflavones) The second group soy protein isolate containing 0.94 mg isoflavones/g protein The third group oy protein isolate containing 1.88 mg isoflavones/g protein.
After 15 months the soy protein fed monkeys were much more aggressive and less social, and looking at what happened with their testosterone hormone levels this is not a surprise.
