Aerobic and Weight Training best for body fat percantage and weight loss

Using both weight training and an aerobic workout on alternate days has now been proven to give the best results in long term body fat and weight loss. A 24 week study showed some extreme results.

Body weight


Aerobics - 4.7 kg (10.3 pounds)
Combined aerobic/weight training - 6.4 kg (14 pounds)

Although a 40% difference is a lot it's not all what is interesting about this study

Body fat


Aerobics - 9.2%
Combined aerobic/weight training - 10.3%

and remember 1.1% is a lot! if you weigh 90kg (198 pound) we are talking about 1 kg (2.2 pound) of pure fat. (about 7000 calories)

Lean Body Mass


Aerobics + 0.9 kg
Combined aerobic/weight training +5.6 kg

And this is the real interesting part. The combined group gained 5.6 kg of muscles and still lost more weight. And this is what we, and anybody trying to loose weight likes! Once you got more muscles you burn more calories. So you don't have to watch what you eat that much and you will loose more weight when working out.
