Health: antioxidants, an apple a day.. keeps Alzheimer ..
Eating apples has always been considered healthy and now it seems that it may help against Alzheimer .
A new study in rat brain cells conducted by researchers at Cornell University in New York showed that a compound in the skin of apples appears to protect brain cells against oxidative stress, a tissue-damaging process associated with Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative disorders.
Fresh apples have some of the highest levels of the antioxidant quercetin when compared to other fruits and vegetables and may be among the best food choices for fighting Alzheimer.
Quercetin is found in the skin of apples. Quercetin is hardly present in apple juice or similar products because the skin is not used as much. Red apples usually have more Quercetin than yellow or green apples.
